Water supply problems in West Panama province continue due to power outages. This was stated by the regional director of the Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN), NeftalĂ Bonilla. According to him, the outages directly affect the operation of water treatment plants and wells, causing disruptions in the supply of vital liquid. Bonilla noted that during scheduled power outages, the energy company installs generators to maintain the operation of the plants. However, on average, depending on the duration of the outages, drinking water production decreases by 50%. The main problem, however, is restoring pressure in the system. He also added that frequent voltage drops disable some areas of the water treatment plants. The problem has already been brought to the attention of the IDAAN's general management to hold talks with the local energy company and find a solution.
